Same Old Lang Syne

This year, Family of Ken will be visiting San Francisco between Christmas and the New Year. We already have plans to visit Alcatraz and Hearst Castle as well as some family and friends, but if any of you gentle readers have suggestions for things to do or places to eat, we would appreciate them.

YES. Alcatraz is awesome. Go on the night tour if you can, it's even cooler then. Just remember what I said about the boat and the birds...if I were you, I'd ride inside.
As for other places...you have to go see the sea lions. I think that's the only other big landmark that WorkNikki and I went to when we were there.
Have fun! And I expect pictures!

We did get Alcatraz tickets for the evening tour, following your previous suggestion. Where are the sea lions?

Fisherman's Wharf. Just google "sea lions" and "San Francisco" and I bet it'll get you there. They all sit there and sunbathe on one of the piers, and it's super cool. And there's a sea lion statue, too! Hunt down my San Francisco pictures on Facebook, you'll see them.

Okay, that's where I thought they would be. We're definitely planning on going to Fisherman's Wharf anyway, so I will be sure to see the sea lions.

Save a meal for the Geradelli sp?chocolate soda fountian - unless your family is against icecream for a meal. It is in the geradelli square just up from Pier 39, Fisherman's warf. There are a few state parks along the pacific ocean, if you havn't seen the pacific then it is worth a trip. Also, I loved the Winchester Mystry House in San Jose?? - it is just on the south side of the Bay. We also loved Hearst castle and hwy 1 to get there. If you are up for a drive, the following palces are also neat: Sutters Mill (where gold was discovered), Napa WIne Valley (there may be train rides from San Fran?), and the big red woods. let me know if you need more.

oh yeah, and the trolly tours that leave from fishermans warf are really funny-at least they were the two times that i went. oh, and look out for the bush man

You guys are the best! Those are all great ideas. We are definitely going to try to see the Winchester House and take a trolley tour. Mark wants to go to the redwoods, so he's in charge of that ;-) The Ghirardelli idea is great for food, too.

FYI I was holding Wesley while typing my other posts, which is why I didn't bother spell checking or rereading it.

I forgot Ghiradelli Square! Mary is right, it is awesome. They were remodeling it or something when I was there so it was kind of in disarray, but I want to go back when I (hopefully, if they let me go to this conference) go in April.
